SIREN SONGS: Solidarity with Ukraine

Siren Songs: Solidarity with Ukraine is out today. It is a very unique album because all songs contain a recording taken on February 24 by Kyiv resident Stas Teterevlev. For nearly three minutes we hear the haunting sound of air strike sirens and the deadly bombing. This recording features throughout the album, reminding us of the reality of war. It’s hard to hear this recording and not be moved by how frightening it must be to have your home attacked. Rodrigo Stradiotto and I first collaborated on the last Mailbox benefit album Music For Another Sky. We have again collaborated to create a special song called Sunyashniki. In Ukrainian it means sunflower; the Ukrainian national flower and their symbol for peace.

Sunyashniki is now available to listen/download as part of the pre order and the full album will be released this Thursday. I was incredibly touched recently when a relative of Stas told me just how much it means that all these artists put Stas’ recording in their songs. Proceeds from this album will go to Ukrainian aid organisation Sunflower of Peace. Many thanks to James McDermid for organising this release through his UK label Mailbox.
